Q: I just set a static IP for my camera, but after refreshing the Oncam CCT, it still shows the old IP. What’s going on?
A: Don’t worry—your camera probably did save the static IP, but the Link Local setting in CCT might be causing confusion.
Here’s what’s happening:
If Link Local (top right in CCT) is ON, your PC is automatically assigned a 169.254.xx.xx address to discover cameras using its Link Local IP (also in the 169.254.xx.xx range). This means CCT may still be seeing the camera at its old Link Local address rather than the new static one.
How to fix it:
-
Check your PC’s Network Adapter Settings:
- Make sure your Ethernet adapter is set to the same range as the camera’s new static IP.
- Example: If your camera's static IP is 192.168.1.30/255.255.255.0, set your Ethernet adapter to something like 192.168.1.201 /255.255.255.0.
-
Turn Off Link Local in CCT:
- Open Oncam CCT and toggle Link Local OFF (top right of the tool).
- This tells the tool to look for cameras in your static IP range instead of the Link Local range.
Now, when you refresh CCT, your camera should appear with the correct static IP.
